Looks like a perennial fourth liner. Should be here for less than 1,000,000/year

Good morning Rangers Fans and Hockey World.

I feel Lemieux's intangibles, that he brings on the ice every game, would be hard pressed to replace.

Besides, prior to his broken thumb, he actually was earning some 2nd line minutes from Coach Quinn.

There was a stretch back in November for a couple of weeks where he was one of the better offensive players on the Team.

I would sign him to another 3 year Contract.

What say you?

Stay safe everyone.

Kinda surprised at the penalty stat, seemed he took all of those penalties in the last 10 games. He had his moments, but I'm not too sure I'd give him anything more than 2x2.5.

Honestly, depending what happens with the cap, if an arbitrator awarded him even just the $1.2M, I might still walk away.
He was absolutely the worst forward on the team most nights. And, like Fenrir said, I don't believe Brooksies source for those penalty stats.

I'd rather have Lias Andersson playing instead.

What kind of raise could he realistically expect? There is a percentage minimum, right?

to qualify RFA's it's a 10% raise or else they become a UFA

Knew you would be the guy with the answer.

Not sure I'd let him walk just yet.

No way I let him walk. The minimum he can receive, as jimbo said, is 10% above his current salary, meaning about $1.05 million. If he comes in around $1.2 million, there is no way he is going anywhere. Plus, if need be, he could be buried in the minors with likely no or very little cap retention. I still think he can be a useful player, third or likely fourth liner.

Dude’s a 40-watter with limited skills. Does some good work in front of opposition’s net, and is quick on the trigger with shooting opportunities. If he can be had for a song, and he likely can, I agree he is worth retaining.

He just turned 24, I would give him another shot. A one year $1.2 million prove it contract would be appropriate. He can be a useful 4th liner and he is still better than Haley, so I think we keep him.

Still young. Can still improve and put up better numbers. Plays with some grit, plays the body and is an agitator. Who, on this team can take his place??

He is the guy you miss when he isnt there.

As I said earlier, I'd sign him for 2 years, and being able to bury that salary in the minors for pennies on the cap is huge.

Too much $ for what he brought this season, start with a 1-2 year contract.

So, you would almost double his salary based on potential? Bottom line is he had a clunker of a season.
I was not being totally serious when I said I would walk away. But, there is no way you give this guy more than the minimum raise and term and then have difficulty finding money for someone like Quickie.

BTW, with the state of society right now and what has been missing from our lives this last while, the link to the season highlight videos in Jan's blog is a great recap!!!
Thanks, Jan.

1.5 to 2 mil is the avg salary for a good forth liner. He is better than the avg forth liner.

Based on what?
Did you read the stats in the blog? He was a sub-par forward this season, even in his use as a 3rd and 4th liner.

Based on this season he doesn't deserve much more than the 1.05 due to him, no more than 1.2

Yes I read the blog, before he got hurt he put up some pretty respectable numbers for a forth liner, 13 points (5-8) in 38 games. Then he got hurt, most likely came back too soon and had the injury nag him the rest of the season. When on the ice he put 86 shots on net which is more shots than Fast took but with 10 less games played. If his shooting percentage would improve a bit his number will go up for sure. His shooting percentage was below average. Just spitballing here. He drew more penalties than took, which is hard to believe but true. Just imagine the bullpoop penalties that were called against him werent called?? Would people be so against him?? At the age of 24 I wouldnt bail on him and to tie him up for 1.5 to 1.75 without a NTC then yes I think the positives out weigh the negatives. There is room for him to improve, which I think he might.
